Apple iOS vs Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Apple's iOS and Google's Android are the most popular smartphone OS in the market. Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest version of Android was launched recently. Some of the latest smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation come with this newest version. Though Apple has announced iOS 5 which is expected to be out in the market later this year, but its the Apple's iOS 4.3 version that is currently available in the market. Lets see what changes have been made in these two operating systems in terms of browsing and user interface compared to their previous versions.

One of the major upgrade in iOS 4.3 is in terms of browsing. With an upgraded Nitro Javascript engine, web browsing is fast and smooth compared to the previous version. Browsing is good with Android 2.3 but not too many changes have been made in this regard. No doubt,  Apple iPhone 4 gives you a better browsing experience compared to any Android powered phone.

Some changes were made in iOS 4.3 to further improve its interface. Some new icons have been introduced like facetime and camera interface has also been given a new look. Gingerbread has a darkened interface compared to the previous version. Changes have also been made in the keyboard.

Though Android 2.3 Gingerbread doesn't match the Honeycomb OS (which is for the tablets) but its the best Android version for smartphones that has come out till date. As far as the iOS 4.3 is concerned, not many changes have been made but it remains popular as ever.
